Goodwood Festival of Speed is the place to be if you're into cars and tech. The huge event in West Sussex has evolved a lot over the 25 years of its existence too, much like the vehicles it showcases. While a lot of those creations are from yesteryear, FOS always features the latest in cutting edge technology, some of which could be found in the Goodwood Festival of Speed Future Lab for 2018. Inside there you could also enjoy a virtual reality autonomous trip, but we managed to go one better and experience the real thing. This year, as part of the 25th FOS anniversary celebrations, Siemens came up with a cool idea by fitting out a 1965 Ford Mustang with all the kit to make it fully autonomous.

"The Goodwood Festival of Speed is an international showcase of all of the very latest models of cars & motorcycles, the very latest technologies in the automotive industry; all jostled alongside the nostalgia of the classic automobiles. Any self-proclaimed petrol-head would attend FOS & walk miles soaking up the atmosphere, hearing the engines roar, the famous faces in the pits & breathe deeply the smell of Castrol R & high octane fuel filling the air. It is a mecca for car & motorcycle enthusiasts worldwide & attracts an international crowd. This year FOS celebrated it's 25 Anniversary alongside 70 years of Porsche & the theme ran long & deep into the core of the displays & the overall feel of the event. A vision of what life on Mars and the moon could look like has been revealed in a series of incredible concept images. The stunning shots reveal the 3D-printed homes and automated vehicles that could one day cover the surface of the planet. They were created by the firm set up by designer Norman Foster, perhaps best known in the technology world for his work on Apple's newly constructed'spaceship' campus in Cupertino, California. A vision of what life on Mars and the moon could look like has been revealed in an incredible series of concept images. The stunning shots reveal the 3D-printed houses and automated vehicles that will scatter the surface of future Mars and lunar colonies.


Self driving robot race car set to take on Goodwood Festival of Speed's notorious hill climb

A self driving robotic racing car is set to take on the world's best human drivers at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Roborace car, which is powered by four 135kW electric motors and uses an artificial intelligence driver, will drive up the event's 1.16-mile hillclimb course, famed for its tight turns, hay bales, flint walls and forests. It has previously raced city circuits around the world as part of the Formula E race series.
